Need some help with "Desert Nudes"

I want to shoot nudes in the desert.

My model and I live in Ohio.

So I would like to know what kind of precautions I must take to protect both she and I from the desert climate. I have heard that the best times to shoot are early morning and late afternoon because the mid day sun is too much to be in. Can anyone give me the low down on shooting nudes in the desert?
